Aatma is a four-member band that thrives in creating original music that is not only emotionally intense and technically dazzling, but which also gets the crowd grooving.

Created out of the need of the founder members to create frequencies that were entirely their own, the band - founded in the year 2000 in Bangalore - is backed by solid experience that its members has put in other bands over the years.

Delving predominantly in original compositions, the band draws on influences that range from blues, jazz and funk to prog rock, metal and traditional hard rock. The band journeys through influences like Miles Davis, Tribal Tech, Primus, Black Sabbath, Dio, Deep Purple, Stanley Clarke and Weather Report to compose new music.

The hard-working band took the stage for the first time three years ago at the Richmond Park Revival Concert; since then Aatma's growing fan following and scintillating live shows have taken them twice to Chennai alone in the recent past, playing to crowds in excess of 5,000. One of the highlights of their frequent out-of-state touring was a crowd-rousing performance at Jazz Garden in Pune, which has played host to Louis Banks, Karl Peters and the Jazz Yatra.

On their home turf of Bangalore, Aatma has been thrilling its fans and making new ones with regular performances in hangouts such as Planet M and Music World, pubs like Styx and Urban Edge and prestigious events like the Bangalore Habba. They have enthralled audiences in venues around the country like the Pondicherry Shopping Festival, the Navy Ball in Kochi and Not Just Jazz by the Bay, Mumbai.
Recently, the band hitting the studios to record a full-length album of original compositions. Titled ‘Too Much Juice’, it is a collage of all the musical emotions that go into the Aatma sound and showcases the band doing what they do best. Making original music.
